Institute of Advanced Virology (IAV) is an autonomous institution under Department of Science & Technology, Government of Kerala and focuses on cutting-edge research initiatives in virology. IAV envisions to function through the eight departments in specific areas of Virology. In order to strengthen the research activities, we seek extremely dynamic and committed scientists for appointment to the following positions on direct recruitment basis.

Essential Qualifications & Experience
  • Three-years Master’s degree in Medical/Dental Sciences (MD/DNB/MDS) OR a PhD after MBBS/BDS
  • Minimum 15-year research experience after obtaining the qualifying degree in bio-medical research including clinical research in reputed research organizations.
  • First-author original research publications, other than reviews, in biomedical and clinical research in Pubmed /SCI indexed peer-reviewed journals of repute
  • Corresponding author research publications in clinical virology in reputed peer–reviewed Pubmed / SCI indexed journals.
  • Proficiency in independent project handling as evidenced by completed externally funded projects as Principal Investigator.

General Conditions & Instructions:

  • Last date of submission of online application: June 30, 2023; 5.00 p.m.
  • Date for determining the eligibility of all candidates in every respect shall be the prescribed closing date for submission of online application i.e 30th June 2023.
  • Age relaxation will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
  • The application has to be submitted through online mode only as per instructions given in the website. Incomplete applications and applications not supported by relevant documents as claimed in the application will be summarily rejected. Candidates already working under the Central Govt./State Govt./Public Sector Undertakings/ Autonomous Bodies should submit their applications through proper channel. They may, however, send an advance copy of the application. Those who are unable to forward their application through proper channel have to produce the No Objection Certificate from the current employer at the time of interview.
  • The vacancies are department-wise and the applicants may exercise their preference of the department at the time of submission of the application. The preference has to be made carefully, based on the experience and other credentials. However, final allocation of the department will be as per the recommendation by the selection committee.
  • All applications will be screened by a committee for suitability of the candidates for the applied positions based on the self-appraisal and supporting documents submitted.
  • Only applications submitted in the prescribed format; and of those candidates meeting all the essential qualifications, provided with supporting evidence, will be considered for shortlisting.
  • The prescribed qualifications and experience are the minimum and the mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for further selection process.
  • Where number of applications received in response to the advertisement is large, the Institute reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates to be called for selection process to a reasonable limit on the basis of qualifications and experience. The decision of the Institute in this regard shall be final.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be called for an in person interview to be done by a duly constituted selection committee.
  • No interim enquiries/correspondence/communication of any sort will be entertained during the selection procedure.
  • The decision by the selection committee will be final and binding.
  • Canvassing in any manner would entail automatic disqualification of the candidature.
  • The Institute reserves the right to regularize / modify the pay scales or other service conditions, if found necessary later on, due to any change in the policy as decided by the Governing Council of the Institute or the Government of Kerala.
  • The Director, IAV reserves the right to decide on the number of positions to be filled; and on any matter related to the selection procedure, including cancellation of the selection process, if circumstances demand so.
  • The decision of the Institute in all the matters shall be final and legal disputes, if any, shall be settled under the Court of Law within its jurisdiction at Thiruvananthapuram.
