Department of Clinical Virology

Any need for medical research originate from the practical difficulties faced by clinicians and health-care personnel in addressing health needs of public. Understanding this basic necessity will be essential for planning research activities that will be directly translatable. This department will work with patients and hospitals. It will focus on the clinical perspectives of virus infections. It will explore the disease severity, diagnostic dilemmas, pathological complications, and variations in patient responses to both infection and treatment. The department will also take initiative in translating the leads generated by sister departments on new diagnostics, vaccines and drugs by conducting clinical trials in liaison with hospitals and regulatory authorities. It will also support the operations of the diagnostic service facility.
