Institute of Advanced Virology (IAV) is an autonomous institution under Department of Science & Technology, Government of Kerala and focuses on cutting-edge research initiatives in virology. The institute has initiated active research programs that are planned to result in translatable products and technologies in the field of medical virology. It has also started academic programs aimed to generate well-trained human resources in the field.
The institute perceives that guidance and mentorship from reputed scientific leaders and visionaries in virology research will give significant impetus to the growth of the Institute which will help to bring it to national and international prominence. With this objective, the institute seeks support from eminent scientists, who have superannuated from service with an accomplished track record in advanced research, translation as well as institution building experience for appointment to a position of an Emeritus Scientist at IAV.
The scheme will follow the conditions followed by other research institutions under the Science and Technology department of Kerala Government.
The position will have the following features:
- A Monthly fellowship of Rs.31,000/- and annual contingent grant of Rs.1,00,000/-
- A Project Fellow can be appointed to support the research activity initiated at the Institute.
Eligibility
- Should be a scientist/academician, with commendable scientific achievements in Life Sciences, superannuated from reputed R&D/Academic institutions.
- Should have published a minimum of three peer reviewed research papers with SCI indexed journals with impact factor greater than 2.0 OR should have filed at least one patent in the last three years of application.
- Should not have completed the age of 65 years as on 1st October 2023.
- Should have superannuated on or after 30th September 2018.
- Should not be availing any other fellowship or should not be currently holding appointment in regular positions at any other institution.
Duration
The duration of appointment will be for a maximum period of three years (renewable every year based on mutual interest) or till attaining the age of 65, whichever is earlier.

Selection process
The selection will be based on the credentials provided along with the application as per the recommendation by a duly constituted committee.
